REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)

Background

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is developing a new world-class, railway network which includes a new passenger railway line from Makkah to Madinah, via Jeddah. The railway will be known as the Haramain High Speed Railway (HHR), it will be approximately 444 km length. The Railway will be a high speed electrified passenger line (up to 320 Km/h), with double track between Makkah and Madinah and standard gauge line (1435 mm). Also the Railway is designed with facilities to run in the up and down directions on both tracks. Furthermore, two workshops are designed for high speed rolling stock maintenance, one in Makkah and another one in Madinah.

Renfe (inside which forms part of Al-Shoula Consortium awarded of the HHR2) is responsible, among other tasks, for construction of these maintenance facilities.

Description of Requirements

Renfe invites qualified firms to submit their Expression of Interest to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the technical assistance for the construction of maintenance facilities in the frame of the Haramain high speed line. Detailed specifications and requirements shall be communicated in due course in the tender documents but for the purpose of this EOI, an executive summary describing facilities to be constructed is attached.
