Transporting passengers and goods with emphasis on safety, with a clear customer-focus, with maximum quality, efficiency, profitability and innovation, and based on the commitment to society and employee development. This is Renfe’s primary obligation and responsibility as a railway operator. The company opts for a corporate management model based on a firm commitment to employee development, society and the environment, by means of a strategy that promotes sustainability, culture and ethics and which pervades all of the company's levels and areas of activity.
In order to continually boost its commitment to its groups of interest, the company has designed and developed a Corporate Social Responsibility strategy over recent years called ‘A Renfe train with values’. A train that goes beyond the economic and qualitative objectives appropriate to any company, by opening itself also to social, environmental, cultural and ethical issues.
Regarding this train with values, Renfe has chosen four pillars on which to align all the Social Responsibility actions it develops and that are expressed through four voluntary commitments:
Supporting Society and Accessibility.
Supporting Culture, Education and Sport.
Supporting Sustainability and the Environment.
“As well as strict compliance with current legal obligations, Corporate Social Responsibility means voluntarily incorporating social, labour and environmental concerns, respect for human rights in transparent relationships, and dialogue with its interest groups, into corporate governance, management, strategy, policy and procedures, thus taking responsibility for the consequences and impacts deriving from corporate actions.

In order to channel Corporate Social Responsibility actions and projects, Renfe has set up an RSE Commission, in which all of the company’s corporate and operating areas are represented. Its main goal is to promote projects linked to company RSE strategy and to share experiences and information between the different areas of activity.
At the monthly meetings, the Subcommittee studies the Corporate Social Responsibility projects that each Activity Area has implemented and new initiatives are proposed to the Comité de Dirección.
