Green Paradise Route: Bilbao-Oviedo (4 days/3 nights)

Day 1, Saturday.

Bilbao-Santander

Reception aboard between 13:00 and 13:30 h at La Concordia Station in Bilbao (Calle Bailén, 2), a unique modernist building dating back to 1902, one of the most genuine of Bilbao’s Belle Époque. Rendezvous with the crew and accommodation on board. A cold lunch will be served while El Expreso de la Robla heads for Gama, in Cantabria. Our coach will then take us to Laredo, a beautiful seaside village, which holds a rich historical-artistic heritage. There we will enjoy a relaxing boat ride to reach Santoña to visit a genuine canning factory where they elaborate the typical anchovies and the northern bonito. Return to the train to approach Santander, the elegant capital of Cantabria. Dinner and overnight in Santander.


Day 2, Sunday

Santander-Llanes

After enjoying our first breakfast on board, we will start our day with a sightseeing of Santander. Free time and return to the train to travel to Puente San Miguel, to board our coach which will take us to the Museum of Altamira and its Neocave. Then, walking tour in Santillana del Mar, a village which preserves an immaculate medieval look. After lunch, bus trip to Cabezón de la Sal, where the train is waiting to take us to Asturias. Our destination is Llanes the beautiful fishing village, where we will have dinner and will spend the night.


Day 3, Monday

Llanes-Candás

Train trip to Arriondas while we have breakfast. After boarding our coach we will climb up to the Picos de Europa National Park, with its lake Enol, where we will be surrounded by an amazing scenery as well as tasting the traditional Asturian cider. Visit to the Sanctuary of Covadonga and then coach trip down to Cangas de Onís to have lunch and take a look on its famous Roman Brigde. From Arriondas station, El Expreso de la Robla will head for Candás. Once in Candás we will have a walking tour in this fishing village well known by its Sardine Fair and its sweets called “marañuelas”. Dinner and night in Candás.


Day 4, Tuesday

Candás-Oviedo

After having our last breakfast on board, we will travel by coach to Gijón, to have a sightseeing of this city facing the Cantabrian Sea and full of life and culture. Free time to stroll around the San Lorenzo Beach or the old quarter, before going back to the train in Candás. Then we will head for Oviedo on board El Expreso de la Robla. Once arrived in Oviedo, Crew’s farewell and end of trip at the Metric gauge station, around 14:30 h.
