Does my ticket allow cancellations?

On Ave and Alvia, Euromed and Intercity trains, the change and cancellation conditions will depend on the option (Basic, Elige or Premium) you have purchased:

  • the Basic ticket does not allow changes and cancellations. You can improve your trip by using the special conditions for changes and cancellations of the Elige and Premium options, at an extra cost.
  • with the Elige y Elige Confort tickets, a charge of 20% of the ticket will be applied for changes, while for cancellations the charge will be 30%. You can improve your trip by using the special conditions for changes and cancellations of the Premium option, at an extra cost.
  • The Premium ticket allows you to make changes for free, while you will be only charged 5% of the ticket price if you have to cancel.

In Avant (mid-distance high-speed) and Media Distancia (mid-distance) trains, the change conditions will depend on the fare you have purchased:

  •  Cancellations are allowed with the Flexible fare, with a penalty of 5% of the ticket price
  • Cancellations are allowed with the Return fare, with a penalty of 15% of the ticket price

The Cercanías (Suburban), Rodalies (Commuter) and metric gauge services do not allow changes.

Can I cancel Renfe tickets?

It depends on the fare you have booked at the time of purchase. In general AVE, Larga Distancia (Long Distance), Avant (mid-distance high-speed) and Media Distancia Convencional (Conventional Mid-distance) train tickets can be cancelled.

Cercanías and Feve services, however, do not admit cancellations.
 

Does my ticket allow cancellations?

The cancellation conditions will depend on the fare you have purchased.

  • Cancellations are allowed with the Flexible fare, with a penalty of 5% of the ticket price
  • Cancellations are allowed with the Return fare, with a penalty of 15% of the ticket price
  • Cancellations are allowed with the Promo+ fare, with a penalty of 30% of the ticket price.
  • Cancellations are allowed with the Mesa (Table) fare, with a penalty of 50% of the ticket price
  • Promo fares do not allow cancellations.
  • For Avant (mid-distance high-speed) and Media Distancia (Mid-distance) trains, the one-way fare allows cancellations, with an administration fee of 15% of the ticket price.
  • If you have the Flexi fare, cancellations are allowed without a penalty up to 24 hours before departure of the train. There is a cancellation fee of 10% of the ticket price after these 24 hours.
  • If you have the Essential fare, cancellations are allowed at 50% of the ticket price.
  • Promo or Mini fares do not allow cancellations.
