It seems impossible not to immerse yourself in the dreamlike world of the famous Catalan artist Joan Miró during a stay in Barcelona. Founded by the artist himself and opened to the public in 1975, the foundation not only presents Miró's work, but also offers visitors the chance to discover the creations of contemporary artists. Activities for the very young are on offer to help them develop their artistic sensibilities from an early age…
The Antoni Tàpies Foundation was created in 1984 by the artist himself, with the aim of promoting modern and contemporary art. It was opened to the public in 1990, replacing the headquarters of the Montaner y Simón publishing house, an exceptional building designed by the Modernista architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and restored by Roser Amadó and Lluís Domènech Girbau. It's the ideal place to immerse yourself in culture and contemporary art. You can also visit the foundation's library, which specialises in modern and contemporary art.
The Can Framis Museum is the latest project of the Vila Casas Foundation, which aims to disseminate works of contemporary Catalan painting. Housed in a place steeped in history, a former factory in the Poblenou district, the museum's three floors boast a permanent collection of over 250 works by Catalan artists or artists living in Catalonia from the 1960s to the present day, which are renewed every year. The museum also has the Espai, an area dedicated to temporary exhibitions. Tours are available for all ages, from beginners to experts.
