Skiing in the French Alps

Wax your skis to slide down some of the best slopes in the world. The French Alps are home to some of the most important resorts in the world of winter sports and we want you to enjoy them. Travel on our AVE (high-speed) France trains, AVE (high-speed) International travelling between Spain and France, to Lyon and visit the ski resorts.

Alpe d´Huez

Alpe d'Huez resort is located in the French Alps (at an altitude of up to 3,330 m). It has almost 250 km of ski areas and 116 slopes, with the following difficulty levels: 40 green slopes, 29 blue slopes, 31 red slopes and 16 black slopes. Alpe d'Huez is characterised for its long slopes, among which is "La Sarenne", the legendary ski slope, the largest in Europe, accessible from the first days of December to the end of April.

In addition, the station is famous for having the final stages of the Tour de France, one of the most famous high finishes in the world of cycling with its 21 steep curves during the ascent to the foot of the slopes.

Courchevel

Courchevel ski resort is found between the three valleys and it features the largest ski area in the world, with more than 600 kilometres of ski slopes connected to each other.

The station is divided into four main areas: Courchevel 1300 (Le Praz), Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650 (Moriond) and Courchevel 1850.

It is visited by millions of skiers during the winter season. One of the unique characteristics of the resort is that it has its own airport, although it has a very short track and is hard to access.

Luxury accommodation is offered in its fifteen 4-star hotels and numerous villas of great comfort, the only ones in the world. There is also a wide range of gourmet restaurants, proof of the careful culinary tradition of this region. Enjoy the relaxing moment of water jets at the spas or book a massage. All in all, a pleasure to visit and spend some time here, in such a well preserved, pure and silent space.

Tignes

Tignes resort is located at an altitude of 2,100 m and it features one of the most beautiful ski areas in the world: Tignes / Val d’Isère. With the Grande Motte glacier (3,650 m altitude), Tignes guarantees 11 months of skiing every year. Its 300 km of slopes are the perfect "playground" for skiers of all skill levels and ages.

Val d'lsère

Val d'Isère is a village with endless sides to it. Wandering through its streets is a real pleasure, whether to go out shopping, if you want to have lunch in a traditional restaurant, enjoy a bar with a good atmosphere or admire the fireworks. You can enjoy and take advantage of the resort's huge ski area, regardless of whether you are a skier, snowboarder, beginner, intermediate or expert (300 km of alpine ski slopes and 87 ski lifts) in the mountain village atmosphere of the Vanoise National Park.

Megève

Several famous names have contributed to the development of this resort, which is currently one of the most important in French Alps. Foodies can discover local products in one of the resort's 85 shops.

If you don't have enough time to go skiing in the Alps and need to stay closer, we suggest you ski in the French Pyrenees, using Perpignan slopes. Perpignan is the closest Renfe destination.
