At Renfe, we have developed a pioneering X alerts system using direct-message notifications for passengers of Cercanías de Madrid, Valencia, Málaga and San Sebastián to provide real-time information on any service incidents that might affect their usual routes and timetables.
To use this service, available for Android and iOS, subscribe by sending a direct message via the link that appears in the Tweet in our account profiles: @CercaniasAvisos, @InfoCercanias and @AvisosRodalies
Clicking on the link will open a window in which a chatbot will offer you the different system set-up options. Choose the lines or sections you are interested in, the days of the week (Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday, or all), and the time slots that you want to receive notifications for, and your preferred language for notifications.
The subscription can be amended or cancelled at any time, or even paused for a certain period (e.g. during holidays).
Once your subscription is set up, you will start receiving direct X messages in real time with notifications that affect the defined lines and time slots. We recommend you allow this type of notification to pop up on your mobile device even when the screen is off.
