• Renfe’s luxury tourist train will include, for the first time starting next season, the Spanish capital as a point of departure or arrival
  • The journey includes onboard accommodation, excursions, cultural visits, haute cuisine, and a wide range of exclusive services

To mark its 40th anniversary, the luxury tourist train Al Ándalus is embarking on a new chapter with the addition of Madrid and other new stops to its itinerary beginning with the 2026 season. For the first time, the Spanish capital will serve as either the starting point or the final destination of the journey.

The new route was unveiled today at the Madrid Railway Museum, where the Al Ándalus train is on display through tomorrow. Visitors have the opportunity to explore its interiors, onboard services, and the unique travel experience it offers, all within a setting as historically significant as the museum itself.

The 2026 itinerary will maintain its traditional format of 7 days and 6 nights, and will expand to include destinations in Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Community of Madrid, in addition to its classic Andalusian stops.

Next year's offering will blend heritage, gastronomy, and landscapes from both southern and inland Spain, with stops in culturally and historically rich cities and towns such as Madrid, Aranjuez, Toledo, Cáceres, Mérida, Córdoba, Jerez, Cádiz, and Seville.

At each destination, travelers will enjoy exclusive visits, such as the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, the windmills of Campo de Criptana, the Roman ruins of Mérida, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, and the renowned equestrian show in Jerez.

This expansion not only brings the Al Ándalus train to new audiences, but also strengthens its commitment to a model of sustainable, exclusive, and experiential railway tourism. The new route allows travelers to discover the region from a different perspective, one that combines history, comfort, and meticulous attention to detail.

With the addition of Madrid to its itinerary, Al Ándalus enters a new era, staying true to its essence while opening the door to new landscapes and opportunities.

40 Years of History

The Al Ándalus train is part of Renfe’s portfolio of Luxury Tourist Trains. With four decades of history, it offers a journey through time aboard historic carriages once used for major trips in the early 20th century. These vehicles have been carefully restored to now provide the highest standards of comfort and service.

Travelers can choose between two types of accommodation: the Deluxe Suite or the Grand Class Room, both featuring private bathrooms. A luxury coach accompanies the train along the entire route to facilitate excursions, and a multilingual guide is present throughout the journey. Admission to all scheduled visits is included, along with many other onboard services and activities.

Travel aboard Al Ándalus is also a culinary experience, highlighting world-renowned products such as olive oil, sherry wine, and Jabugo Iberian ham. All breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included, whether served onboard or in prestigious local restaurants.
