Renfe presents its new Sustainability Master Plan, which, with a global perspective and aligned with European standards, reinforces its commitment to public service and positions the company as a leading operator in sustainable mobility. The plan drives social, economic, and environmental development for a greener and fairer future, connecting people and territories in an inclusive and responsible manner.
The presentation took place during one of the plenary sessions of the Sustainability Action Week, organized by the International Union of Railways (UIC) in Paris, where Renfe actively participates as a Silver Sponsor.
During the session, Adrián Fernández, Director of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency at Renfe, emphasized that “this new Plan serves as the roadmap guiding the sustainability strategy for the entire Renfe Group. It provides a common vision for the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) approach and strengthens the company’s commitment in these areas.”
The new Sustainability Master Plan is structured around 211 concrete actions, involving the entire Renfe Group in its implementation through three key pillars:
In the Environmental area, the Plan is built on three main drivers: achieving carbon neutrality and improving energy management; promoting sustainable, integrated, and resilient mobility; and ensuring responsible, circular, and environmentally respectful management.
In the Social area, the focus is on people, fostering an inclusive, safe, and healthy work environment that promotes diversity, employee well-being, and professional development. At the same time, it enhances social well-being and societal protection, reinforcing its commitment to territorial integration and creating differential social value through its services.
Lastly, in the Governance area, the Plan highlights ethical, transparent, and responsible management, strengthening regulatory compliance, digital protection, and inclusive decision-making while accelerating technological innovation in line with reference standards.
