Ciudad Real station is open on Mondays except bank holidays from 5:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. and from Tuesday to Sunday and bank holidays from 6:00 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. It offers a range of services:

  • Ciudad Real was founded by King Alfonso X "The Wise" under the name of Villa Real in 1255. In 1420, the father of Isabella the Catholic, John II of Castile, recognised the settlement as being a city, renaming it Ciudad Real. Interesting, right

  • Coinciding with its proclamation as a city, a wall was constructed to surround the city with more than one hundred and thirty towers and seven gates. Today, only the Puerta de Toledo remains standing. 
  • Did you know that the Catholic Monarchs first established the Royal Chancery and the Holy Inquisition in Ciudad Real? Although not for long, as these institutions were moved to Granada and resulted in the decline of the city
