Check out all the information about the new Avant Travel Passes (10-30 Travel Pass and Pase Vía pass) with a 50% discount for travel starting on 1 January 2026.

If you are a frequent traveller, you will surely find the perfect pass for you. They are comfortable to use and offer you huge discounts on the price of the general ticket.

In the case of Avant services operating in Castile-Leon, the regional government of Castile-Leon subsidises an extra 25% of the ticket price, meaning that users benefit from an extra reduction in price.

Starting 1 January 2025, as well as being registered as a resident in any of the municipalities of Castile-Leon, to acquire multi-trip tickets with the 25% discount from the regional government of Castile-Leon, citizens must have completed at least 60% of all trips on multi-trip tickets, with the exception of the Tarjeta Plus 30-50 multi-trip ticket, for which the percentage completion will be calculated based on the minimum number of trips taken using said card, not on the total number of trips purchased.

If this minimum use is not achieved for multi-trip tickets, new multi-trip tickets cannot be purchased with the 25% discount from the regional government of Castile-Leon for a period of 150 calendar days from the day following the expiry date of the pass for which the minimum number of trips were not used, although said tickets can be purchased without said discount.

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has established a series of measures to promote the proper use of Avant (mid-distance high-speed) passes. Please keep in mind that:

  • If, during the period of validity of the pass, a passenger validates the trip for at least three times and then does not travel on the train or cancels the validation after the cancellation period, it will be considered as fraudulent use. In this case, the right to obtain a new discounted pass will be lost for 60 days, starting from the notification of the last infringement. Yes, new passes can be obtained without a discount, in order to be able to continue travelling during that period. Go to the page of each of the Avant season tickets, where you will find a link to purchase the non-discounted season ticket you need.
  • In order not to be considered an improper use, the validation that is not going to be used must be cancelled at least 60 minutes before the train's departure time.
  • It is not allowed to formalise two journeys for the same traveller in the same direction until three times the scheduled travel time has elapsed (this limitation will affect all passes for the same traveller). For example, if the travel time between two stations is one hour, and the ticket for a train departing at 8 am has been validated, it can only be validated again on another train departing after 11 am (one hour x 3). Keep in mind that you must sit in the assigned seat (the one appearing on your ticket). If you are not sitting in your assigned seat, our Inspection staff may take note of improper use of the pass, considering that you may have left your seat empty.
  • Passes are named and non-transferable. If the use of a pass by a passenger other than the holder is detected, it will be considered a passenger without a ticket applying the General Conditions for Passengers.

NEW! Subsidised Media Distancia season tickets for frequent travellers

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda has established a series of measures to promote the proper use of Media Distancia season tickets. Please keep in mind that:

  • If, during the period of validity of the pass, a passenger validates the trip for at least three times and then does not travel on the train or cancels the validation after the cancellation period, it will be considered as fraudulent use. In this case, the pass will be cancelled, the deposit will not be refunded and no new pass will be issued for any origin-destination for a period of 60 days after cancellation.
  • The validation can be cancelled up to 60 minutes before the departure of the train.
  • Only four trips per day (one-way or return) can be validated for the same journey.
  • It is not allowed to formalise two trips in the same direction until three times the scheduled travel time has elapsed, with a minimum of 3 hours. For example, if the travel time between two stations is one hour, and the ticket for a train departing at 8:00 has been validated, it can only be validated again on another train departing after 11:00 (one hour x 3).
  • Keep in mind that you must sit in the assigned seat (the one appearing on your ticket). If you are not sitting in your assigned seat, our Inspection staff may take note of improper use of the pass, considering that you may have left your seat empty.
  • Passes are named and non-transferable. If the use of a nominative season ticket by a passenger other than the holder is detected, it will be considered a passenger without a ticket applying the General Conditions for Passengers.
  • Refund of the deposit for the passes for the months of May and June 2025: Starting 21 July 2025, you can apply for a refund of deposits for free passes for the months of May and June 2025. You have one year to request your refund, ending 30 June 2026.
  • Return of the deposit for the first four-month period in 2025: From 14 May 2025, you can apply for a refund of deposits for free passes corresponding to the first four-month period of the year (from January to April 2025). You have one year to apply for your refund, ending 30 April 2026.
  • Return of the deposit for the third four-month period in 2024: From 15 January 2025, you can apply for a refund of deposits for free passes corresponding to third first four-month period of last year (from September to December 2024). You have one year to request the refund, until 31 December 2025.

Please remember that you must keep your digital or physical pass and the purchase ticket or receipt until your deposit for the pass has been refunded, since these are required to request the refund or to solve any incident that may occur throughout the process.
