2. Which transport companies can I travel with?

You can travel on all Renfe Cercanías and Media Distancia services for any origin/destination, as well as on the Regional Services of Catalonia. In addition, this pass can be used on Avant (mid-distance high-speed) trains travelling between Madrid - Salamanca; on Avant (mid-distance high-speed) trains travelling between A Coruña - Ourense and Murcia - Alicante (including all intermediate stops, whether departures or arrivals); as well as on Avant (mid-distance high-speed) Exprés Barcelona-Tortosa trains (except for trains travelling between Barcelona-Tarragona).

You will also be able to access regular road transport services under state jurisdiction and affiliated transport consortia.

3. How much does the Single Pass cost?

There are two types of Single Pass:

  • Single Normal Pass, priced at €60 for 30 days.
  • Young Person and Child Single Pass, priced at €30 for 30 days and aimed at travellers born between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2026.

4. How long is the Single Pass valid for?

The Single Pass is valid for 30 days.

You can also purchase the Pass up to 30 days in advance. At the time of purchase you must select the start date of validity you want. For example, if at the time of purchase, you choose for the pass to become valid from 25 January, it will remain valid until 23 February, inclusive.

Once each validity period has come to an end, you will have to purchase a new Single Pass.

5. How can I buy a Single Pass?

The pass can be purchased through the sales channels of the affiliated transport companies. In the case of Renfe, you can purchase the Single Pass through the ticket offices and self-service machines at the stations and on the Renfe website in the case of Media Distancia trains.

6. What type of ticket do I need to travel on Renfe trains where the Single Pass is valid?

  • If you want to use Cercanías services, you will need to carry your season ticket loaded on a Renfe&Tú contactless card.
  • If you want to use Media Distancia (Mid-Distance) and Avant (mid-distance high-speed) services, you will need to obtain your pass in physical format (ATB ticket) or in digital format (PDF/Passbook/Renfe App).

7. Once I have purchased my Single Pass, how do I board the train?

  • If you want to travel on Cercanías trains or Media Distancia trains without a seat reservation (Media Distancia de Ancho Métrico and Regional Services of Catalonia) you must validate your journey at the access controls or validators at the stations.
  • If you want to travel on Media Distancia (Mid-Distance) services with reserved seating, and permitted Avant (mid-distance high-speed) services, you will need to book your seat in advance. You can book your place through the usual channels: Renfe website/app, ticket offices and self-service machines at the stations and telephone reservation.

8. Can I make reservations for any Media Distancia origin and destination?

Yes, you can book your trips for any Media Distancia (Mid-Distance) route and permitted Avant (mid-distance high-speed) routes. Please remember that you can only book a maximum of 4 trips per day, either one way or return. You can cancel your reservation free of charge up to 60 minutes before the departure time of the trip.

Please note that you will not be able to book travel for two or more consecutive trains in the same direction. In other words, a new booking cannot be made when there is less than 180 minutes difference between the departure time of the first train and the departure time of the second train from the same station, or if the travel time is less than triple that of the first booking.

9. Does the booking I made serve as the ticket?

Yes, you will have to present the reservation to access the train, along with your subscription either in physical or digital format.

10. Does the booking have an associated cost?

No, reservations are free and can be cancelled free of charge up to 60 minutes before the departure of the train.

Once this period of 60 minutes has elapsed, the booking cannot be cancelled and will be counted as a trip made, for the purpose of controlling fraudulent use.

11. If I have purchased the Single Pass to travel on a Cercanías (Commuter) train and I want to travel on Media Distancia (Mid-Distance), what should I do?

When you purchase your Single Pass, you will be provided with a PIN code.

If your Single Pass is on a Tarjeta Renfe&Tú contactless card and you want to travel on Media Distancia (Mid-Distance), you will need to obtain the Media Distancia pass at no additional cost.

You can do this through the usual channels: Renfe website/app, ticket offices and self-service machines at stations and over the phone booking.

Remember to have your ID or identity document at hand along with your PIN security code.

12. If I have purchased the Single Pass to travel on a Media Distancia (Mid-Distance) train and I want to travel on Cercanías (Commuter), what should I do?

When you purchase your Single Pass, you will be provided with a PIN code.

If your Media Distancia Single Pass is in physical or digital format and you want to travel on Cercanías (Commuter) services, you will need to include your pass on a Tarjeta Renfe&Tú contactless card to pass the access controls and validators at the stations.

  • If you want to travel on Media Distancia trains, you must obtain your Media Distancia pass at no additional cost. You can do this through the usual channels: Renfe website/app, ticket offices and self-service machines at stations and over the phone booking.

In any case, always remember to have your ID card or identity document at hand along with your PIN security code.

14. Can anyone else use it to travel?

No, the Single Pass is personal, bears the holder's name and non-transferable.

For fraud control purposes, Renfe's Intervention staff may ask you to identify yourself, showing your identity document along with your season ticket (in physical or digital format).

15. What is considered fraudulent use?

On trains with seat reservations, fraudulent use will be considered when a user, on 3 occasions, has booked a journey that they have not subsequently made or has cancelled the reservation less than 60 minutes before the train's departure time. In this case, your Single Season Ticket will be cancelled and you will not be able to purchase a new one until 60 days have elapsed since the cancellation.

16. What happens if I fail to comply with the conditions of the previous point?

If improper use of the Single Season Ticket is detected, it will be withdrawn immediately and the user will not be able to purchase a new one for a period of 60 days. In addition, no right to compensation will be generated for unused days.
