Discovering Barcelona for families

Why not take your family on a tour of Barcelona over the next few holidays? If you're in France, make the most of the Renfe trains. These trains, departing from Lyon, Valence and many other towns in the south of France, will take you to Barcelona at high speed and in exceptional comfort. You'll arrive in Barcelona in great shape for your stay in one of Spain's most beautiful cities.

Discovering Barcelona as a family means, above all, revelling in the sunshine, friendly atmosphere and ambience of the city! Your children are going to love this holiday!

Take the cable car to Montjuïc

From the Sant Sebastià tower, take the cable car down to the Jaume tower. A breathtaking panorama, a unique experience and an unforgettable memory! As you make your way quietly downhill through a large park, stop off at the play areas and sandpits designed for children... they'll love them! You'll be in for a great family outing! And to round off the day, in the early evening as night falls, why not stop to admire the splendid spectacle of water jets, sound and light provided by the "Magic Fountains" standing in front of the Palau National. Children love it!

Las Ramblas, a must-see pedestrian zone in Barcelona

A leisurely stroll through Las Ramblas! It's a lovely long avenue to stroll along, full of all kinds of entertainment that you'll discover as you make your way gently down to the port: small kiosks, musicians, various street shows. There is a wide pedestrian walkway in the centre of the avenue, so children can run around in complete safety! It usually gets crowded in Las Ramblas in the early evening, just before dinner. Then continue a little further towards Plaça Reial, with its magnificent palm-lined arcades…

Parc Güell

Discover Parc Güell, a place full of charm and fantasy that will certainly delight children: mushroom-shaped houses, a salamander-shaped fountain and a host of colourful mosaics… You can easily spend an afternoon here, discovering the many wonders while taking a leisurely stroll. Children can also have fun on the playground. Once you've settled on the bench, which undulates around the square like a snake, you won't want to move… take advantage of the opportunity to admire the magnificent view as the sun sets!

Don't forget to visit the other marvels that Gaudi adorned Barcelona with: Passeig de Gracia, Casa Batlló and Casa Mila, and Spain's most visited monument: Sagrada Familia (but the wait can be long, especially with children, but even just seeing the outside is worth the trip).

A day at the seaside

An ideal holiday destination just a few minutes from the city centre! You can spend a day in Barceloneta, the old seafarers' and fishermen's quarter. It's a great place for a long walk. Enjoy a paella on the terrace… Afterwards, a short break to digest with a stroll along the seafront for parents and games on the beach for children! It's summer... even in the dead of winter!

Enjoy tapas and churros

Don't leave Barcelona without trying one of the most famous Spanish specialities in the world: tapas! There's something for everyone! These consist of small plates topped with ham, cheese, charcuterie and seafood… the perfect dish for all children, who love to peck at it!

For the kids (... and for the grown-ups too!), give in to the temptation of churros con chocolate, little crispy doughnuts dipped in thick chocolate! It's sweet, it's fatty… but it's so good! The children will literally love it!
